Underwrite utility line items with primary-source data instead of a guess. Compare state electricity and delivered natural-gas prices, generation capacity and fuel mix, national water/sewer/trash escalation, modeled water/sewer bills across 50 metros, and screening-level electricity-plus-gas cost per square foot for seven commercial property types. Every modeled result discloses its tariff, price, consumption, CBECS, geography, and vintage inputs; state profiles also flag whether commercial electricity supply is open to retail choice. Neutral math only — prices, bills, inputs, percentiles, ranks, and trends, never "cheap", "expensive", or an affordability score.

Capabilities at a glance #

• GET /v1/states/{state} — State profile — latest electricity and natural-gas prices, derivatives, generation summary, and retail_choice context. Path param: 2-letter state code, DC, or US. Optional ?sectors= filters electricity sectors only.
• GET /v1/states/{state}/history — Monthly price history for one state. REQUIRED: sector. Optional: fuel=electricity|natural_gas, start, end.
• GET /v1/states/{state}/generation — Latest generation, renewable share, trends, ranks, and full 14-fuel breakdown.
• GET /v1/states/{state}/cost-per-sqft — Screening-level annual electricity and natural-gas cost per square foot. REQUIRED: property_type=office|retail|warehouse|lodging|food_service|health_care|education. Returns inputs, vintages, and caveats.
• GET /v1/rankings — States ranked on one metric. REQUIRED: metric. Always pass limit (1–51) because each state returned costs one action.
• GET /v1/utilities/water-cpi — National BLS water/sewer/trash CPI profile and escalation derivatives.
• GET /v1/utilities/water-cpi/history — Monthly CPI history. REQUIRED: series=water_sewer_trash|water_sewer|trash.
• GET /v1/metros/meta — Free metro catalog and methodology — 50 metro keys, 100 verified providers, benchmark scenarios, tariff provenance, and endpoint list.
• GET /v1/metros/{metro}/water-sewer — Modeled residential, commercial, and industrial water/sewer bills for one uppercase metro key, with providers, tariffs, and assumptions.
• GET /v1/metros/rankings — Rank 50 metros by a modeled bill metric. REQUIRED: metric. Always pass limit because each metro returned costs one action.
• GET /v1/metros/package — Full versioned 50-metro water/sewer benchmark package in one response; large payload, use only when the complete package is needed.
• GET /v1/meta/series — Free dataset catalog — all source layers, period ranges, observations, retail-choice metadata, cost-per-SF contract, and metro coverage.
